Spiritual Rituals That Will Boost Your Mood Instantly
“The Trouble is you think you have time” - Buddha
With an abundance and the gift of time we are experiencing as a global community right now, it’s easy to let the days breeze by without having any real intention or routine for the day. As humans, we thrive on desires, goals and achievements, and times like these can chaos and put a halt on our goals and dreams that we set at the beginning of 2020.
When we include daily spiritual rituals and practices into our routine, it can help give us purpose, boosting our energy and fueling our inner hunger to strive forward regardless of what is happening in the world around us.
Even simple daily activities can be turned into spiritual rituals through clear intention and bringing our conscious awareness to them. Whenever we bring our awareness to something, we allow ourselves to turn inward and reflect on ourselves, bringing more gratitude to our lives and taking back our power. Here are our three practices you can try to boost your mood almost instantly.
Sun Gazing
This is the practice of gazing directly at the sun either during sunrise or within 30 mins of sunset (for just 10 mins). When we concentrate on the warmth of the sun’s energy on our face, we are partaking a fully present moment experience. The sun’s energy is vitalizing, increases serotonin levels in the brain and boosts our immune system. Now more than ever, it is vital to get our daily dose of sun and vitamin D!
Setting yourself three intentions for the day
Whether this be writing a journal, studying an online course or doing yoga, planning these tasks ahead of time, will leave you with a feeling of accomplishment at the end of the day. It’s hard to keep track of which day as the days appear to be all the same. You could plan this in advance for the week or set the intention over your morning coffee or tea. 3 seems to be magic number! Even more rewarding, is ticking these tasks off at the end of the day.
Breathwork
The act of conscious breathing is often underlooked. Unlike meditation, breathwork involves the practice of consciously manipulating your breathe and helping your body to become more efficient at using oxygen. You could try traditional practices of yogic breathing such as Pranayama or modern techniques of deep rhythmic breathing such as The Wim Hof Method or Soma Breathwork developed by Niraj Naik. The later combines electronic beats synchronizing with your breathe, making the experience super powerful for those that enjoy electronic music. All techniques are unique and prevailing in their own right, you can try out what works for you. Almost immediately, you will start to feel a real deep sense of inner peace, clarity of the mind, and increased awareness of your subtle body (or chakras) allowing you to release any tensions and emotional blockages. This heightened sense of awareness and high levels of oxygen in the blood are what ultimately bring you to experience feelings of love and bliss!
